Winnie L. McDonald, age 85, passed away on February 17, 2018.
Born in Tennessee to Fred and Elma Brown, she had been a resident of Randolph since 1963. Winnie was employed at Kent State University for many years, retiring in 1996 from the Housekeeping Department. She enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening and was always proud to share her bounty with others. Winnie also loved crocheting and enjoyed making gifts for friends and family that will remain as a treasured remembrance of her love.
Preceded in death by her husband, Douglas in 1997; an infant brother and sisters. She is survived by her son, Darrin; daughters, Dianah McDonald and Denise (Pete) Sargeant; grandson, Glenn Sargeant; brother, Truman Brown; sisters, Geneva Melton and Carolyn Martin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312 with Pastor Rick Toburen officiating. Family and friends will be received prior to the service, from 6 to 7 p.m. Private interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 70 W. Streetsboro Street, Suite 201, Hudson, OH 44236.
