William M. Tharp

William M. “Bill” Tharp Jr., 86, passed away June 30, 2012.

He was born in Akron and was a life resident of the area. Bill served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was the owner-operator of Tharp & Sons and was a member of Clearview United Methodist Church. Bill taught Sunday School at the church and was a scout leader with Troup #304.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years of marriage, Dorothy M.; sons, David (Leanna), Michael (Sheila), and Daniel (Kim) Tharp; daughters, Deborah (James) Miller, Bonnie L. (Andrew) Gehan, and Barbara Finney; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Reverend Anne L. Fisher officiating. Private burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Thursday.
