William H. “Bill” Smith, age 66, passed away August 16, 2016, after an extended illness.
Born in Yorkshire, England, Bill lived most of his life in Ellet. He retired from Keep Akron Beautiful in 2016 after 32 years of service. Bill enjoyed his job and was very fond of his fellow employees. He loved spending time with his family, especially his two nephews who were very special to him.
Preceded in death by his father, Joseph “Harold” in 2015; he is survived by his mother, Betty; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Susan; two nephews, Robert and Taylor; cousin, Judy Shiplett; other relatives and friends.
Friends and family will be received Friday, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 7 p.m. Committal service will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., in the Mausoleum Chapel at Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 West Market Street, Fairlawn, Ohio 44333, where interment will follow. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Keep Akron Beautiful, 850 E. Market Street, Akron, Ohio 44305.
