William G. Manthey

William G. Manthey, age 93, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013.

He was born on October 30, 1919 in Akron to George and Rose Manthey. Bill was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps out of Amarillo, Texas. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber after 40 years of service. He also drove bus for the Akron Board of MRDD. Bill loved to work outdoors, landscaping and gardening. At one time he had almost two acres producing fruits and vegetables.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary. He is survived by his children, William G. II of Suffield, Edward W. (Linda) of Edinburg; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A private service has been held with burial at Hillside Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to American Legion Post 452, 3494 Mogadore Road, Mogadore, OH 44260.
