William Dean Fuller, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of October 17th, 2015. He is together again with Alice, his wife of 56 years, who passed away earlier this year. He was a loving father of two children, James (Theresa) Fuller, Karen (James) Stokar. He took great pride in his four grandchildren; Scott & Lindsey Fuller and Danielle & Kyle Stokar.
Bill, or “Willy Dean” to his family and friends, served his country during the Korean conflict as a radar operator on the aircraft carrier USS Princeton, CV-37. He often joked that his skill of reading and writing backwards, which he learned in the navy, lead to his successful career as a lithographer with numerous Akron, Ohio trade shops. It was while he was working at one of these shops, that he met his wife to be. She was working at a business across the street and he went out of his way to meet and get to know her. They ultimately married and shared a ride to work together for almost 25 years.
Bill was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in his mid-thirties and although initially undeterred by this, he was forced to retire early in life. He then turned his attention to his custom built wood working shop, where he was able to turn out numerous small projects for family members.
Bill (along with Alice) is best remembered for their annual family reunion “Corn Roast” they hosted throughout the 70’s and early 80’s. They would have upwards of 100 family members and friends over for a day of fun, food and late night poker in the garage. He also took great pride in his restored 1928 Ford Model-A Roadster. Everyone begged him for a ride in the rumble seat. The family sends a special thank-you to the staff at Heritage of Hudson and Akron General Visiting Nurse Hospice for taking care of Bill in his last months.
There will be no services, in lieu, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at www.nationalmssociety.org
