William J. Clawson, 85, passed away May 17, 2013.
Born in Akron to Worthy and Virgil Clawson on July 21, 1927, he was a lifetime area resident. Mr. Clawson retired from Bricklayers Local #7 after 41 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of Mogadore VFW Post 8487, Mogadore Moose No. 1082, and American Legion Post 611.
Preceded in death by his wife, Rose M.; daughter, Vicki Lu Clawson; son-in-law, Glen Loucks; grandson, Ryan D. Labbe; and brother, Ben, he is survived by daughters, Debra Loucks and Gail (Mark) Noland; grandchildren, Traci, David and Jessica; four great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; brother, James (Marie) Clawson; and special friend, Debbie.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Rev. Richard W. Ferris officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, where military honors will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Summa, 444 N. Main Street, P.O. Box 2090, Akron, OH 44398-6153.
