William R. "Bill" Burton (Butch)

William R. “Bill” Burton (Butch) Bill Burton, age 78, passed away June 21, 2017. He was born on February 5, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Kertly and Adeline Burton. Bill graduated from Suffield High School in 1957 and was a lifelong Teamster, retiring from OK Trucking. His many hobbies included woodworking, shuffleboard, rehabbing houses and playing cards. Bill cherished his family and was a caring, compassionate, giving husband and father who will be missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by his sister, Louise Pigott; brother, Tom Burton; and son-in-law, Dave Mealer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jacqueline (Jackie); sons, Rudy (Renee) Burton and Kirk (Charlotte) Burton; daughters, Becky (Andy) Getz and Sheryl Mealer; grandchildren, Jennifer Schell, Matthew Burton, Alexandra Dashnaw, Christopher Burton, Kara Burton, Stephanie Getz and Amy Getz; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Shianne, Noah and Jacen; sister, Marlene (Charles) Isom; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Family and friends will be received Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m., and Monday, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be Monday, 12 noon at the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
