William E. "Bill" Barna

William E. (Bill) Barna passed away May 9, 2022, two days shy of his 86th birthday. Born in Akron, Bill worked with his Dad and brothers in his family’s landscaping business before being employed for 25 years by Goodyear Tire and Motor Wheel in Akron. He lived in Uniontown for 45 years, where he was a member of the Uniontown Lions Club and served as a Trustee of the Uniontown United Methodist Church, before moving to Struthers to be closer to family. Bill enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mary Barna, brothers Steve Jr., George, Robert Sr. and John, and sisters Mary Ann Griffin and Betty Black. Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pauline; daughters Sheryl (Michael) Wheatley, Linda Friend and Sally Previte; grandchildren Christopher (Kristin) Wheatley, Jason (Jessica) Wheatley, Dustin Graves, Jessica (Benjamin Todd) Friend, Samantha (Greg) Lawley, Courtney (Cody) Monarch, Brittany (Jeremy) Lenz, Zachary Previte and Jeremy Previte; five great grandchildren; sister Eleanor Gilger and brother-in-law Bob Griffin; and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received Saturday, May 14 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron (Ellet), 44312. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rod Black Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NAMI, PO Box 49104, Baltimore, MD 21297.
