Wayne E. Pickelsimer

Wayne E. Pickelsimer, Sr., 95 years, passed away April 6, 2012.

He was born in Hemp, Georgia and lived most of his life in the Akron area. Wayne served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was employed 33 years with Goodyear Aerospace/Lockheed Martin, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Akron Baptist Temple and U.A.W. Local #856.

Preceded in death by his wife, Vera; he is survived by son, Wayne E. (Sheila) Jr. of Akron; grandson, Matthew (Kara) and their son, Austin; granddaughter, Tara Marciniak (Israel Johnson) and their children, Cheyenne Marciniak and Gabriella Johnson, all of Akron; many brothers; sisters; nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank the staff at Copley Health Center and Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, 44312 with Reverand Ernie Kemppel officiating. Burial to follow at Hillside Memorial Park, where military honors will be conducted. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Monday.
