Waneta Mildred Babich (Millie) passed away peacefully on June 1, 2023, at age 97. She is in her glorious heavenly home with her Lord and Savior on this day. We give thanks for her wonderful life and rejoice knowing we shall see her again.
Millie was born in Akron, Ohio on August 26, 1925 to Orville E. and Lura B. (Harris) Casto. She was a 1943 graduate of Garfield High School and retired from the University of Akron in the cashier’s office. Millie was full of kindness, always caring about the needs of others and exceedingly generous to those that might need a helping hand. We remember Millie’s great love for her husband and her family. Her granddaughters especially hold in their hearts memories of making homemade Christmas cookies with her, family dinners together, and having a delightful time playing dice and board games together. Millie was a wonderful cook and her amazing berry pies and cobblers were special favorites of everyone. She also enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband of 71 years, Nick.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was proceeded in death by her daughter, Donna Jean and her brothers, Ova and Orville (Bud).
Left to cherish her memory are her son, David (Anne) Babich, granddaughters, Julie (Shane) Carpenter, Christina (Benjamin) Rosser, Caren (Milan) Atanackovic, Joanna (Michael) Simmons, and great- grandchildren, Maya, Olivia, and Sadie Carpenter; Nolan, Rachael, Madeline, and Naomi Rosser; Sofia, Maxim, and Viktor Atanackovic; Avery and Claire Simmons.
A special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Senior Living of Barberton for her support over the last year.
Her celebration of life will be with family only on June 24 at Hillside Cemetery in Akron.
