Wanda L. Parsons, age 94, passed away December 20, 2021.
She was born September 25th, 1927 in Akron, Ohio to the late Ernest and Iva Hershberger. She worked at Edwin Shaw Hospital as the kitchen supervisor. Wanda spent time throwing butter across the kitchen and surprised all of her grandchildren by her fast pitch. Wanda had many hobbies over the years. She was an artist, but never called herself one. She loved her dolls and spent the 1980's growing her porcelain collection which filled an entire wall. Wanda could bring any plant back to life and had an impressive collection, filling a corner of her living room. Wanda was known as "Cookie Grandma" baking cookies, cupcakes, cakes, and nightly dinner for her family and any other neighborhood kid who wanted to join. She never turned anyone away. She loved word puzzles. Wanda was a prolific crocheter. She made baby blankets for every new baby born. When her hands gave out on her, she started working on jigsaw puzzles. Every time family visited, she looked forward to everyone sitting at the puzzle table to find a piece and asking, "where's this one go?" Christmas was her favorite time of year. It was a family affair and took multiple days to transform the living room into a child's dream. She loved The Lord's Prayer & spent time teaching her kids & grandkids prayers. In all of her years, she never complained.
Wanda was preceded in death by her late husband Vonnie Parsons; sons, Joel and Delbert Parsons; great-grandson, Lincoln Wiley; brother, Jim Hershberger; and sister, Naomi Hershberger.
