Violet M. Hiner, age 95, passed away peacefully at home on December 24, 2014 after a short illness.
Born in Falmouth, Ky. to Ira and Bertha Prine, she lived in the Akron area most of her life. Violet was a dedicated homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved gardening and quilting, and was an exceptional cook.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ned; and eight brothers and sisters, she is survived by her children, Ralph (Wendy) Cooley, Sandy (Don) Groves, Jim (Barb) Hiner, John (Bev) Hiner, Dean (Laura) Hiner, Kathy (Ron) Anderson, Ellie (Mike) Patterson; and stepchildren, Andy Cooley, Helen and Judy (Buzz); 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Violet’s family deeply appreciates the love and care that was shown to Violet by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Don Groves.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 4 to 6 p.m., and Tuesday, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Matthew Skifstad officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna.
