Vern Lee Saylor

Vern Lee Saylor, age 68, passed away April 25, 2015. 

He was born in Akron and was a life resident of Tallmadge. Vern graduated from Tallmadge High School in 1964 and was employed with I.B.E.W. Local #306 in Akron for 40 years. He was a lifetime member of NRA, Tallmadge High School Alumnae Association and had been chairman of the Board of Local #306 for over 10 years. Vern placed 3rd in the Heavyweight Division in the National Judo Championship in 1989. He was an Eagle Scout and also a licensed Ham Radio operator. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Ruth Saylor; brother, Gary Saylor; and sister, Colleen Maul. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jeanne; children, Audra (Shane) Hall, Cindy (Todd) Steinel, Nicole Ross, Shelly (Matthew) Catalano, Matthew (Marion) Bushnell, Jonathan Bushnell, Susan Meyers and Carrie (Joel) Sweitzer; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and sisters, Beverly Smith and Margie Metcalf. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday 1:00 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532), MOGADORE, Ohio 44260 with Pastor Rich Ferris officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 12 noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Local #306.
