Vera L. Swartz

Vera Louise Swartz, age 93, passed away on February 14, 2024.

Born in Clyde, Ohio, she spent most of her life in Suffield, Ohio. Vera graduated from Willard High School, and was employed by Goodyear-Aerospace/Loral. She was a member of the Suffield United Church of Christ.

Vera enjoyed making plastic blankets (mats) for the homeless, crocheting wigs for children with cancer, and quilting. She delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Swartz (2018); parents, Ira and Opal Charles; Sister, Angeline Hafner (2018); Brother, Melvin Charles (1948); and sons, David William (2014), and Steven Charles Swartz (2020). She is survived by her sons, Ronald Eugene Swartz , Andrew Lee Swartz (Susan), and Hollis Haff (Karen); 13 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. 

Friends and family will be received for visitation Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 3-5 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. A service will be held Monday, February 19, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. The family suggests memorials to Suffield United Church of Christ, 1115 OH-43, Mogadore, OH 44260, in memory of Vera.
