Vera Gertrude Smith

Vera Gertrude Smith passed away peacefully on October 23, 2014 in Harlingen, Texas.

Vera was born in Tylersburg, Pa. on June 3, 1924 to Clarence Allio and Ada Ruth (Hall) Allio. In 1943, she graduated from Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg, W. Va. Vera resided in Parkersburg, W. Va. until 1959 when she married her husband, Richard and then moved to Mogadore, Ohio where she resided for over 50 years. Vera was an active member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s Society, Miriam Circle.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; as well as brothers, Carl Allio, Floyd Allio, Raymond Allio; and sister, Mina Melrose. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Hunsucker (Keith) of Harlingen, Tex.; along with two sisters, Florence Allio and Helen Carper of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Parkersburg, W. Va. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends and neighbors. The family would also like to give special thanks to Jennifer States for the care she provided Vera for many years.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, October 30, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532), MOGADORE, Ohio 44260. Funeral services will be held at the Mogadore United Methodist Church in Mogadore, Ohio at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014, with visitation one hour immediately prior to services. The Reverend Pam Gable will be officiating. Interment will follow immediately thereafter at the Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mogadore United Methodist Church, 3828 Mogadore Road, Mogadore, OH 44260.
