Valjean Parker, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2021. Born in Medina, OH he lived in Mogadore for most of his life and graduated from West High School. He was employed at Goodyear for 40 years, during which he was named Goodyear Apprentice of the Year and shook hands with General Douglas MacArthur.
Valjean was a member of the Mogadore Volunteer Fire Dept. where he served as captain for a period of time. He enjoyed golf, having breakfast with his buddies, and woodworking, especially building things for his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed going on family vacations to Myrtle Beach and his yearly visit to Beaver Island.
Valjean is preceded in death by his wife Charlotte; parents, Howard and Ethel; and brother, Tilden. He is survived by his sister, Marcene Dearth; his sons, Bruce Parker and Gary (Kathy) Parker; daughters, Valerie (Jeff) Kisamore and Pam (Don) Gifford; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and 7 special extended granddaughters from all over the world.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Becky (Morris) Smith for all of her help. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mogadore Fire Dept. and Crossroads Hospice.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, May 16th, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Donovan Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532), Mogadore, Ohio 44260. Due to COVID, masks and social distancing guidelines will be followed. A funeral services will be held on Monday, May 17th at 10 a.m. with Pastor Nathan Wells officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogadore.
