Urie Kanagy, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on December 5, 2013.
Born in Belleville, Pa., he made his home in Hartville, Ohio, and was employed with the Monarch Rubber Company for 26 years. He enjoyed farming, reading, traveling and conversation.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Salina Kanagy; brothers, Joe, Korie, David, Jacob, Jonas, Lee, Norman, Ezra and Alvin; and sisters, Mattie and Naomi, he is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mattie Kempf Kanagy; daughters, Kristina (Greg) Barton, Beth (Ryan) Slabaugh and Kathleen (Rolf) Kaegy; son, David (Mikki); grandchildren, Lucas, Trevor, Laura, James and Katherine Barton, Caleb, Seth, Grant and Jack Slabaugh, Samuel, Michael and Allison Kanagy, Felix, Noelle, Tristan, Amelie and Charlotte Kaegy; great-grandchildren, Gianna, Noah and Alaina; brother, John Kanagy; and sister, Amelia Kanagy.
Memorial service will be held Friday, 1 p.m. at High Mill Church of the Resurrection, 1920 Schneider Street NE, Canton, Ohio 44721, with Pastor Chuck Schumacher and Pastor Myron Weaver officiating. Private burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
