Twyla Roman, 82 years, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 1, 2023.
She grew up in Brimfield and graduated from Kent State University High School. She married John Roman on May 15, 1960 and they raised their two daughters in Springfield Twp. where she served as a Township Trustee from 1982-1994. In 1995, she was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives where she served as a State Representative from 1995-2002. Twyla was instrumental in getting House Bill 218, the Good Samaritan Bill, passed and signed into law. She wrote the law that deters prisoners from filing frivolous lawsuits, saving Ohio taxpayers over $1 million dollars annually. Twyla was involved with Eagle Forum and the Education Committee. She fought to include abstinence in the Ohio health education curriculum. She fought to improve the quality of life for all Ohioans through even better schools, less crime and lower taxes.
Twyla was an active member of The Chapel and after retirement, she and John enjoyed numerous trips and activities with their Prime Time Chapel family. Twyla loved gardening, and was especially proud of her blueberry and raspberry plants. She was raised on a farm and loved animals, especially dogs, horses and pygmy goats. Throughout her life Twyla was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a loyal friend. She loved having her grandkids over for jammie parties when they were young. Twyla was fun-loving and had a great sense of humor.
Preceded in death by her parents, Dayton Briner and Zelda Hilty Briner; her beloved husband John, her sister Loretta (Harold) Sandusky and her brother Ralph Briner; Twyla is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Richard) Kayes, and Sharyl (Stacey) Gregerson; grandchildren, John (Bethany Haramis) Kayes, Carrie (Doug) Perkins, Lyndsey (Evan) Sumner, Kayla (Ryan George) Gregerson, and Ally Gregerson; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Emilia, Audrey and Brielle Perkins; sister-in-law, Jane Briner; nieces, Gail (Wayne) Morris, Connie (Art) Huffman, Dixie (Les) Meeker, and Melissa (Joe) Natko; lifelong friends, Maria Chapman and Pauline Fiume.
