April 22, 1918 — December 4, 2012

Born in Bronx, New York, he grew up in Templeville, Md., graduating at the top of his class from Greensboro High School in 1935. He then lived in Akron for most of his life. Preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean; loving companion, Marilyn Culler; brothers, Bill, Harvey, Carlton, Alfred and George; and sisters, Beatrice and June, he is survived by sons, Truman “Lee” (Marian), and Charles “Arthur” (Christel); daughter, Esther Anna (Jeff) Chandler; granddaughter, Katie Faith Chandler; brothers, Mervin (Betty Mae) and Jimmy (Betty); sisters, Bette Fox, Dorothy Shahan and Kathryn (Henry) Covington; and many cousins and friends, including the family of Marilyn Culler. The family would like to extend special thanks to Carolee Weigand for her love and support, and Dr. Mark Smith and Dr. Roger Chaffee for their care of Truman.
