Tracy S. Kot

Tracy Schartiger Kot passed away on December 20, 2023 after a two-year illness. She was 57 years old.

Born in Akron, Ohio on August 30, 1966 to Phyllis Schartiger, Tracy grew up in the area and attended Springfield High School. A member of the National Honor Society, Tracy was also active in the band and French club. After graduating in 1985, she attended classes at the University of Akron. She and good friend Cathy Rumbaugh enjoyed traveling together and, on several different trips, they visited Las Vegas, Arizona, England, France, and Niagara Falls.

In May 1995, Tracy married Steven Kot, and their first child, Brandon, was born in 1997. The births of son Jordan and daughter Amanda followed in the next five years. Tracy attended her children’s activities through school, including the many baseball, softball, and volleyball games in which her children participated. Weekly family game nights included Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, and Left, Right, Center. Parasson’s was a popular weekly outing. Christmas was always a joyful time in the Kot household because Tracy was fond of the holidays. She had many Christmas figurine collections and loved her Disney decorations.

After her husband Steven passed away in 2007, she continued to pursue administrative roles in her work. Tracy was last employed by ProCon Solutions. Tracy was a senior software consultant who taught other companies how to use the organization’s products correctly. Much of this work was done online, and Tracy had that knack of helping and teaching people how to effectively use the company’s software programs. Some of her work required out-of-town travel, which complemented her natural desire to experience and explore different settings throughout the states. She was able to take each of her children on an annual work trip with her which created special memories. The family also went on several Caribbean cruises. Tracy also enjoyed scrapbooking and created many books of reminiscences for her children to cherish. She attended craft workshops to improve her scrapbooking skills. Able to acquire a camper at a nearby campground, she often spent weekends there, many with her children in attendance, and called this getaway her “happy place.”

Tracy is survived by her children, Brandon, Jordan, and Amanda, brother- and sister-in-law Bill and Barb Bauer, brother- and sister-in-law Tom and Linda Kot, sister-in-law Stacey Fair, cousins Roxanne Smyth and Brian Smith, nieces Michelle Aurand (Kevin), Julia Bauer (Bill Jensen), Alyson Armbruster (Andy), Valerie Bauer Hutchison (Jon), Laura Mangum (Kyle), Lisa Stutzman (Tyler), nephews Chris Bauer (Melissa), and Bryan Fair (Arlene), and many great nieces and great nephews.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all those medical professionals who helped take care of Tracy during her illness.

A service for Tracy will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28 at the Hopkins-Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron (Ellet), Ohio. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A committal service will be held in the mausoleum chapel at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio immediately following the service at Hopkins-Lawver.
