Thomas B. Gainer

Thomas B. Gainer, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on March 13, 2014.

Born in Belington, W. Va., Tom served in the U.S. Army, then came to Akron and was employed in the tire industry his entire career. He was a member of Fairhaven Baptist Church, and enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening and woodworking. Tom was a loving family man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceded in death by his parents, Hayward and Elsie; brother, Johnnie; and sister, Elma Lea Price, he is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Faye; sister, Evanelle Papp; sons, Brad (Karen) and Dean (Lynda); daughter, Teresa (Daryl) Parma; grandson, Damian (Danielle); granddaughters, Krystal Gainer, Shannon and Mallory Parma; and great-grandchildren, Darius and Marissa Gainer.

The family will receive friends Saturday (TODAY), from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will follow at 4 p.m., with Pastor W. David Rosenberger officiating. Burial will take place at Valley Bend Cemetery in Belington, W. Va.
