ATWATER -- Thomas W. Brown, 73, went home to be with the Lord on March 13, 2017 after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Akron, he was an area resident all of his life, and graduated from Springfield High School in 1962. A U.S. Navy veteran, Thomas was employed with General Tire, retiring as head of the Maintenance Department after 30 years of service. He found his home at Harvestime Apostolic Temple where he was a member. Tom was a very active, full of life person who loved riding his motorcycle and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He always had time for helping others and was an amazing father and man who will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Imogene Brown, he is survived by his soulmate, Pam Hay; daughter, Jennifer (Brandon) Diaz; grandchildren, Devin, Destiny (Wes) and Mariah; an expected great-granddaughter; brother, Rick (Becky); and nephews, Jeff and Scott (Bridgett).
Friends and family will be received Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Memorial service will be held Saturday, 1 p.m. at Harvestime Apostolic Temple, 136 E. Maple Street, Hartville, Ohio 44632 with Brother Raymond “Bud” Smith officiating. Friends may also visit at the church one hour prior to the service Saturday, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Cremation has taken place. The family suggests memorials to Tom’s church at the address above.
