Theresia (Balzer) Ambach, known as Oma to many, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2018 in Akron, Ohio surrounded by her loving family.
Theresia was born on March 26, 1927 in Hungary. She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1956 and settled in Akron where she lived and raised her family. A member of St. Francis de Sales parish, she was dedicated to God, the church and never failed to miss Sunday mass.
Theresia, our Oma, will be forever remembered for her infectious smile, caring heart, loving embrace, beautiful flower gardens and her harmonica; which she carried with her always. Having her treasured harmonica close by meant that no opportunity would be missed to play at a family celebration, to cheer a group of friends (or strangers) when out and about or when one of us had a birthday and she gave us a call. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort knowing she is in heaven watching over us, playing a tune and more than likely dancing a polka - spinning as fast as she can.
Predeceased by her parents, Franz and Magdalena Balzer; and husband, Ferdinand Ambach, Theresia is survived by her loving partner and soulmate for the past 31 years, Al Schaefer. She was a gentle and caring Mother to three children, Fred Ambach, Mary Ambach Heyden (Anthony Heyden) and John Ambach (Katie); and beloved Oma to seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
All are welcome for visitation to take place at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 on Saturday, December 22nd from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed immediately by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
