Thelma Leigh Meissner, 83, passed away March 10, 2012 after a long illness.
She was born in Blytheville, Arkansas and lived most of her life in the Akron area. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Preceded in death by her parents, Delmer and Anner (Parms) Raspberry; she is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jerry Meissner; children, Michael (Anna) Griggs, Candy Avery, Lisa (Terry) Wittman, Mark (Mara) Griggs, Dana, Barry, and Keely Meissner, Julie Schaffer and Jill Croft (Thom White); 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Larry) Scholton of Austin, Tex., Johnny Trotter of Jasper, Ala.; brother, Doug Raspberry of Schertz, Tex.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Waleed Nemer, Dr. Daniel Newton and the staff in the Palliative Care Unit of Summa Health System.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the 3 East Palliative Care Unit of Summa Health System, Akron City Hospital, 525 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44304.
