Sylvia M. Hays, age 89, passed away peacefully November 8, 2017.
Born in Akron to John and Olive Simpson, Sylvia lived in Green all of her life. She was a homemaker, longtime member of Greensburg United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She loved camping with her husband and belonged to the Rubber City Roadrunner’s Club as well as the National Campers and Hikers Association for many years. Sylvia was active in the Greensburg (Tyler) Garden Club. She loved doing many crafts and sewing, especially making clothing for her family. Sylvia will be remembered for many things, especially the wonderful pie’s she made for family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George B., who was the love of her life; brother, Jack; and daughter, Deborah; she is survived by daughters, Marlene Hays and Pamela (Robert) Milhoan; grandchildren, Melissa (Hays) Cell, Jennifer Bird, Tiffany (Steven) Martin; great grandchildren, Sierra Cell, Madison Bird, Georgia Martin and Trinity Phillips. She will be missed by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 13, 11 a.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.), with Rev. Katie Osier officiating. Friends and family will be received Monday, one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
