Steve Marko

Steve Marko, age 84, joined his beloved wife, Carolyn on August 30, 2014.

He was born in Akron, and lived in Mogadore for over 45 years. Steve was the owner of Marko Body Shop for more than 60 years. One of Steve’s passions was being a horseman and breeder of state and national champion quarter horses. He was a tri-chairman and director with the Ohio Quarter Horse Association. Steve was a member of Port-Summit Rotary and ASA Body Shop Association, and had been a Summit County mounted patrolman as well as a part-time Springfield Township policeman. He loved life and people, sharing his love for horses and generously opening his home and heart to everyone.

Preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn; he is survived by his children, Steven (Laura), Toni (Frank) Kremer and Rick (Barb); grandchildren, Frank (Kelly) Kremer Jr., Ashley Kremer (fiancé, Kevin Lewis), Sarah (Neil) Bensman, Kelli (Cody) Kunkle, Ricky and Josh Marko and Ryan and Jeremy Campbell; great-grandchildren, Drake, Brody, Steven, Tara and Kendall; brother, Ed; and sisters, Mariane and Eleanor. A special thank-you to Fred Miller and Shirley Cody for their caring ways.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, 2406 Ardwell Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Brian Nutt officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route 532), MOGADORE, Ohio 44260.
