Shirley A. McDonald

Shirley A. McDonald, 77, passed away March 23, 2014 after a brief illness.

Born in Akron, Shirley lived in the Akron/Hartville area most of her life. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Shirley loved watching old movies, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and playing card games that she would always let them win! Her friends and family will miss her dearly.

Preceded in death by her siblings, Donna Edwards, Mary Edwards, Earlene Ice, Snow (Camille) Marchinsky, Earl Lowther and Patricia Lowther; and other family members. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 58 years of marriage, Lowell McDonald; sons, David (Carolyn) and Ralph (Cheryl); grandchildren, Joshua, Brandon, Brooke and Matthew; brothers, Terry (Cecelia) Lowther; sisters, Carol (James) Chapman and Catherine Nopper; dear friend, Carol Farmer; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m., with Pastor Henry Shrock officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
