Shirley Rae Barnes

Shirley Rae Barnes, age 80, went home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2016. Born in Harrisburg, Pa., she lived in Brimfield Twp. most of her life. Shirley was a former member of Canton Road Baptist Church and was currently attending Harmony Baptist Church. Known for being a prayer warrior, she was always ready to stop what she was doing to pray for those in need. Shirley loved singing in the church choir and was proud to be fiercely independent. She enjoyed working in her yard and flower garden and taking care of others, especially stray cats. Preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma Weimer; and brother, John Weimer, Shirley is survived by her sons, Sidney (Susie Richardson) and Steven; daughter, Sheryl Stevens (Scott); four grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Weimer; and sisters, Doris Palmer and Karyle Harper-Williams. Funeral service will be Tuesday, 1 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church, 1127 Southeast Avenue, Tallmadge, OH 44278 with Rev. Bernard S. Christy officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Brimfield. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service Tuesday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The family suggests memorials to an Animal Rescue of your choice.
