Sherry L. Leek

Sherry Louise Leek, 85, passed away on March 23, 2024. 

Born on August 4, 1938 in Akron, she was a resident of Tallmadge. She graduated from Ellet High School and attended Akron University. Sherry was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for 27 years and employed at Cotter Merchandise Storage Company for 22 years. She was an avid reader and loved the beach, bonfires, angels, sports, holidays, and butterflies. She enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with family and friends.

Sherry was a strong believer in God and the backbone of our family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was a true friend. She will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness and her love. She was always there to say “I love you more.” So mom, spread your wings and fly like a butterfly. Now you’re an angel in Heaven.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and William Glass, and close companion, Dick (Papa) Hughes. She is survived by her children, Kimberly Tumaniszwili, Michael (Sheryl) Leek, Deborah (Daniel) Fuller, Toni (Mike) Riley, Sandra (Lawrence) Klusty; grandchildren, Justine Neuwirth, Michael (Erica) Riley, Cory (Tarra) Jones, Steven (Jennifer) Riley, Jackie (Dale) Warren, Adrianne (Joshua) Schultz, Ariel (Anthony) Liggett, Andrew (Adriana) Tumaniszwili, Alexandra (Cole) Nace, Daniel (Victoria) Fuller, Julia Tumaniszwili; 19 great grandchildren with one on the way and many loving cousins. 

Special thanks to the staff at Mulberry Gardens – they made her feel at home. 

Family and friends will be receive Friday, March 29^th from 12 to 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44312. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
