Sandra L. Stafford

Sandra L. Stafford, age 66, passed away June 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Akron, she lived her entire life as a resident of the Village of Lakemore. Sandy was the clerk for the Village for 32 years, and served as a fire fighter and EMT for ten years. She was one of the first women to fill this position for Lakemore. Sandy was an amazing woman who was steadfast and loyal. She never knew a stranger. An avid gardener, you could often catch her outdoors. If you were an animal making her acquaintance, you were in for a treat! She loved animals and fawned over her cat, Sara and her bunny, “Bugs”. Her smile will be sorely missed.

Preceded in death by her father, William Stafford Sr.; mother, Lucille (nee Rouse); and brother, William Stafford Jr., Sandy is survived by nieces, Kimberly (Timothy) Urbach and Gwendolyn (William) Erskine; and great-nieces, Sandra and Hannah Urbach.

Graveside service and burial will be Friday, 12 noon at Hillside Memorial Park, 1025 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. Per Sandy’s request, there will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Lakemore Fire Department, 1400 Main Street, Lakemore, OH 44250.
