Ruth E. Nolan

Ruth E. Nolan, age 90, passed away August 13, 2014 after a brief illness.

Born in Akron, she lived in the area all of her life. Ruth was employed with Acme for more than 30 years, retiring as a manager of the dairy department. She enjoyed bowling and golfing and was on many different leagues until the past two years. Ruth loved making meals and desserts for her family, and will be remembered for her German chocolate cakes and apple pies. She will be deeply missed by her family.

Preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Walter A. Nolan Sr.; three brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by son, Walter A. Nolan Jr. of Akron; daughter, Ruth E. (James) Goodyear of Apple Creek, Ohio; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Berry of Elkhart, Ind., and J.R. Nolan of Avon, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Kyle Andrew and Shelby Elizabeth Berry, Sean Allen, Andrea Elizabeth and Shilo Marie Nolan; and sister, Carol (Bob) Alexander.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
