Ruth L. Cunningham “fought the good fight, finished the course, and kept the faith” and was welcomed into Heaven by her Savior Jesus Christ on August 23, 2016.
She was born April 13, 1929 in Wirt County, West Virginia. Ruth was a passionate homemaker and along with her husband, raised three children. She was an avid reader, loved to crochet and volunteered at church and school. She attended Grace Baptist Church and loved the people in the Widows Might group and enjoyed trips with the Senior Saints. Ruth was a great encourager with her gentle spirit and a friend to all. She was raised on a farm, and her heart was never far from her family in West Virginia.
Preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Carl Cunningham Sr.; brother, Orley Bell; and sister, Velma Ash. She is survived by her children, Carl, Sheila (Frosty) Miller, Lori (Neal) Booth; and three grandchildren, CJ (Kelly), Kacie and Madison.
The family would like to thank Akron General VNS Hospice Care for their deep care and support of Ruth during her journey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor Bob Stephens officiating. Entombment at Hillside Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service Monday, from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 704 N.
