Rose Rusinoff (Yankovich)
Rose Rusinoff (Yankovich), 97, of Akron, Ohio passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 surrounded by her family.
She was born on October 15, 1919 to Mary and Frank Yankovich. Rose spent her life caring for others as a devoted wife of 50 years to the late Francis Rusinoff, and as a mother to four children. Preceded in death by her son David in 1966 and by her sisters Mary and Ann, her brothers George, Nick and Hamel; she is survived by son, Ken (Beth) and daughters Mary Yanik and Anna Marie Panning; grandchildren Ted (Christine) Rusinoff, Tricia (Marty) Cochran, David (Erica) Panning, Kristen Panning, Amber Yanik, Michael (Kate) Panning and eight great grandchildren.
Rose was known for her extraordinary zest for life which she shared with all who knew her. She could be heard saying “At your age, I could move Akron!” and she did! During summer holidays, you could find her golfing with her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. Throughout her life she was always quick to extend a caring hand and actively provided the primary care for her aging relatives. She was an avid fan of watching tennis and golf, talking politics, playing bridge, skip-bo or scrabble, and a reader of biographies.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 2580 Berne Street, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Father Michael Williamson presiding. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In remembrance of Rose, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at 6100 Rockside Woods Blvd, Suite 445, Independence, OH 44131.
