Roger G. Begue, age 92, passed away on November 26, 2015.
Born in Akron, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the European Theatre. He retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 45 years of service. Roger, known as a “favorite” bus driver with the Randolph Local School District, was an excellent baseball player and avid fan of all sports. A former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and current member of Little Flower Catholic Parish in Canton, he was deeply committed to his Catholic faith. In his spare time, Roger enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a hard worker with a gentle spirit, and above all he loved his family and was very proud of them.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes. He is survived by sons, Ron (Evelyn), Dave, Bill, Roger, Terry (Lisa) and Mark (Annette); daughters, Mary (Bill) Perkins and Joan Gougler; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Marty (Margaret) and Gene (Janet); sisters, Mary Ann Bunch, Kate (Dick) Knapp and Bernice (Paul) Lostoski; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Bob Cline; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staff at Bethany Nursing Home, Canton for the loving and compassionate care given to our father and their support of our family.
Friends and family will be received Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260 with Father Norm Douglas presiding. Procession will form at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, where Mogadore VFW Post 8487 will conduct military rites. The family suggests memorials to St. Joseph School, 2617 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, OH 44260.
