Rod Brannon, age 74, passed away October 29, 2017, after battling Dementia with Lewy Bodies.
Born in Canton, Rod lived in Mogadore all of his life. He retired from Forest City Enterprises. Rod was a member of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, was a Charter Member of Port Summit Rotary Club, the Mogadore Historical Society, Mogadore Alumni Association and Community Leaders. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends while having breakfast at the Mogadore McDonald’s. Rod loved people, yard sales, vintage cars, his family and being a dedicated volunteer to his community.
Preceded in death by his parents, Warren “Brick” and Marjorie; and wife, Sherri; he is survived by his loving and caring wife of ten years, Connie; son, Todd (Cheryl); daughter, Angela (Rick) McCollam; stepchildren, Keith (Steph), Jeff (Bernadette) Moore and Doug (Rebecca) Backus; 15 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and brother, Mike.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Thursday prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Memorial service will be Thursday, 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Brian Nutt officiating. It was Rod’s wish to have his body donated to the Cleveland Clinic for the research of Dementia with Lewy Bodies. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA30047 or the Mogadore Historical Society, 135 S.
