Together in eternity, just as they were on Earth, Marty and Robin went home to be with the Lord.
Nearly inseparable over the last 41 years, Marty and Robin fell in love when they were two skinny 13 year olds. Married on April 24, 1976, they shared a love that was an example to others of what a marriage relationship should be. Anyone who knew them knew Marty loves Robin, Robin loves Marty.
They are leaving behind a legacy that includes four children and their spouses along with ten grandchildren and counting. Mom and Dad will be dearly missed by Angela & John Brockway, Nicole & Chad Davis, Sarah & Tony LaTampa, and Robert & Carrie McLain. GaGa and Pop Pop will be loved and missed by Sarina, Abbie, Jacob, Esther, Allie, Mackenzie, Brooke, Connor, Kaedra, Little Tony, and…
Marty worked as a hand grinder at SGS Tool Company for 37 years while Robin raised their children and some of their children’s friends. She was also a surgical scrub technician with an associate’s degree from the University of Akron. Their house was always open to others and they never met a stranger. Marty and Robin enjoyed helping others and going on missions trips. They spent countless hours together riding their Harley with friends.
Marty and Robin were preceded in death by Robin’s father, Bob Van Hook, and Marty’s brother, Mike McLain. In addition to children and grandchildren, they are survived by parents, Jean Van Hook and Bob & Mary McLain; siblings, Pam Van Hook, Mike and Colette Van Hook, Marsha Van Hook, Debbie (Van Hook) Rardin, Joyce (Van Hook) Pierce, Jamie and Kathy Van Hook, Ian (McLain) and Jim Anderson, Terry (McLain) and Stan Cooper, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support and prayers over the last week.
