Robert D. Smith

Robert D. Smith went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2014.

He was born January 24, 1939 in Sandusky, Ohio. He was a graduate of Sandusky High School and a graduate of Bowling Green State University. He was employed at Sandusky Distributing Company (Mr. Wiggs) for 30 years, achieving the position of Vice President, and finished his career at Riverfront Staffing Solutions in Cuyahoga Falls. Bob was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was always concerned about others and would go out of his way to lend a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beatrice Smith of Sandusky. He is survived by his sons, Robert (Melissa) of Little Rock, Ark., Eric (Michelle) of Green, Ohio and Chris (Lisa) of Rootstown, Ohio; and grandchildren, Michael, Caleb, Anna, Samira, Lydia, Samuel, Theresa and Benjamin. He is also survived by his brother, Jack (Pat) Smith of South Bend, Ind.; sisters, Mary Ward of Huron, Ohio and Cheryl (Roger) Boughton of Austin, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon with Rev. Dr. Steven Nelson officiating.
