Robert Vernon Popp, 57, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 4th following a brief illness. He was born in Killeen, Texas, and although life took him many places, Bob always considered himself a Texan at heart.
He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Capitals and Formula 1 racing, but the real love of his life was Polly, his “Unicorn, his Princess” whom he married on April 9, 1983.
He was the devoted father of six beautiful children: Robert Vernon Popp, Jr. (Toni) of Garden City, MN, Grace Charmaine (Joseph) Silvis of Fort Worth, TX, Rachel Rene Popp of Orlando, Florida, Matthew Edward Popp, Paul David Popp and Lily Josephine Popp, all of Tallmadge, OH. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Jacob Alexander, Michael Anthony and Natalie Grace Silvis and Larkin Lia Popp. He leaves behind parents Charles Edward, Marlyn Sue Barrett and James Popp, as well as Siblings Jean Elizabeth Kruger, Charles Jay and Tara, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Bob enjoyed his career and considered it a calling. He researched, designed and developed medical hosiery for Juzo, whose owners treated him like their own family. Bob was very proud that his sons are learning the same trade. He enjoyed podcasts, news and politics, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. We are saddened beyond speech that he was taken away so suddenly, but know and trust that God’s timing is perfect, and God's Will be done. We rest assured that he is with our loving Heavenly Father. We, his family, appreciate your love and support.
If you wish, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Friends and Family will be welcomed to celebrate Robert on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home at 547 Canton Rd. Akron, Ohio 44312 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
For anyone that is not able to attend in person, the entire celebration will be streamed on the Hopkins Lawver Facebook page beginning at 3 p.m.
