Robert J. Monroe

Robert J. Monroe, age 79, passed away March 17, 2014.

Born in Ashland, he lived in the Springfield Twp. area most of his life. Robert graduated from Springfield High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 29 years of service.

Preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Violet Monroe, he is survived by his cousins and many friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. O. Homer Burket officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, where military rites will be conducted by Firestone VFW Post 3383. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army, 190 S. Maple Street, Akron, OH 44302.
