Robert Edward “Bob” Weiss went home to be with the Lord November 23, 2013.
He was born on August 3, 1940 to his parents, Hoyt and Ora Mae (Thrasher) Weiss. Bob was raised in Lakemore and graduated from Springfield High School in 1958. He always had fond memories of the friendships he made at that time and took great joy in recalling the experiences he had in participating in many sports, especially football, and being voted “most athletic” his senior year. Bob enlisted in the United States Army in September 1958 and was honorably discharged in August 1961.
Upon his military return he attended the University of Akron. He began his career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a Journeyman, Machine Repairman and retired April 1, 2003 along with his longtime friends, Charlie Stewart and Kenny Meyer. Bob married Beverly Roop on May 22, 1965 and although they later divorced, they continued to raise their two children, Jennifer Ann and Thomas Daniel Weiss. Bob especially enjoyed reading, sports, and most recently gardening. His greatest passion and love in his life centered on his two children and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, William F. Weiss; and sister, Dorothy Ann Clayton. Bob is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Ann (John) Tummel; son, Thomas Daniel Weiss; grandsons, Alec Michael Peddicord and Joseph Edward Tummel; brother, James H. (Sally) Weiss; sister, Linda C. (David) Warder; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and his special family, Beverly and Melvin Hostetler.
