Robert "Bob" James Russell

Robert James Russell went to Heaven on January 31, 2022, after living 81 years of life to the fullest. Bob was born March 7, 1940 in Altoona, Penn. to Lloyd and Daisy Russell. Family has always been his priority beginning with his siblings Lloyd, Betty, Wanda, Vince, and Ronnie. He is a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He married the love of his life, Donna Dietz, in 1964 and they shared 58 loving years together. They had 4 children together whose spouses Bob loved as his own: Cathy and John Durant, Karen and Mike May, Carrie and Dave Klingensmith, and Bobby and Melissa Russell. Bob worked decades as a Teamster truck driver and retired from Reiter Dairy. He coached all of his children on the ball field and in life. He was a life-long Cleveland sports fan, especially of the Tribe. He was able to enjoy 20 years of retirement that included golfing, bowling, fishing, gardening, and traveling the country with his wife, friends, and family. His favorite blessings in life were his grandchildren: Zachary and Janelle, Sydney, and Jacob Durant; Katlin and Kiley May, McKenzie and Paige Klingensmith; Alex and Erik Vidas, and Lydia Russell. He loved family time, capturing memories through photos, and supporting the grandkids in their sports and activities. He never missed a chance to talk about how proud he was of his entire family. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His incredible legacy of leadership, unconditional love and passion for life will be passed down through all those who loved and knew him. Family and friends will be welcome to help celebrate Bob's life at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St. NW Uniontown, Ohio 44685, on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 4:00 PM. A private burial will take place at Hillside Memorial Park in Akron, Ohio. The family requests that COVID precautions be observed with masks and maintaining social distancing during all services.
