Robert L. Beck

Robert L. Beck Jr., 84, went home to be with the Lord December 11, 2012.

Born in Alliance, he lived most of his life in the Akron area, retiring from General Tire & Rubber Company. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a member of New Horizons Christian Church since 1952. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Donald; and sister, Wilda Anderson, he is survived by daughter, Debra “Debbie” Vargo; grandchildren, John Vargo III, Jennifer Vargo, Robert Vargo, and Jamie Beck; and great-grandson, Edward Ragan.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, 4 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44312, with Pastor James Bane officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487 following services at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.
