Rita C. Clark

Rita C. Clark (nee Weakland) Rita C. Clark, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2018. Born in Akron to the late Leonard and Ida Weakland, she was a lifetime area resident. Rita was a longtime member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. She was a homemaker, loved planting flowers, and playing cards. Rita enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Clark; infant son, Daniel; daughter, Cathy Rife; son, James; and sister, Agnes. She is survived by sons, Edward (Paula), Tom, Steve, Rick, and Joe; daughters, Deb (David) Sloe and Judy (Jeff) Spooner; 20 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Jane) and Donald (Carol) Weakland; sisters, Helen Schmidt, Verna Myers, and Sister Daniel Weakland. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 12 NOON at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne Street, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Father Michael Williamson presiding. The funeral procession will be starting at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Rita’s church.
