Richard "Rick" G. Owens

Richard “Rick” Owens, age 71, passed away after a major heart attack on September 14, 2017. Born in Akron, Rick grew up in Springfield Township and moved to Hartville in the 1980’s. He graduated from Springfield High School and The University of Akron. Following graduation, Rick served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Novar Controls. Rick enjoyed reading, computers, fishing and fixing all the things his wife would break. Preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Edna Owens; Rick is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Phyllis; son, Scott; and brothers, Bob (Priscilla), Ronnie (Penny) Owens and family best friend, Fran Sylvis. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312.
