Richard John May Jr. “Dick”
Richard John May, age 86, went home to be with the Lord December 25, 2017, Christmas afternoon, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Akron, Ohio on August 13, 1931, he graduated from East High School and attended Kent State University. Dick served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and retired from Goodyear Aerospace/Loral. He was a member of East Market Christian Church and The Chapel. He had a love and appreciation for yard work, camping and wood working, but his greatest love was his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Richard John May Sr. and Lena Althea May; and his in-laws, Barney and Beatrice Lundy Lakins. Dick is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Peggy May; son, Ken May; daughter-in-law, Trish May; grandchildren, Catherine (Brian) Adolph, Christine (James) Skakun; great-grandson, Brendon Adolph; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends will be received Friday, December 29, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral service will follow Friday, 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Tebbs officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation, 600 Highway 169 South, Suite 1725, Minneapolis, MN 55426.
