Richard “Dick” David Leslie was peacefully escorted into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 22, 2023.
He was born to Earl and Mathelda (Steidle) Leslie on May 3, 1935. After graduating from Buchtel High School and needing a trade, Dick started Leslie Floor Sanding, a company that still exists, today. On August 4, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart and faithful companion, Dolores (De) Leslie. During the next few years, their family became complete with the birth of their son, Jeffrey, and their daughter, Lori. In 1983, Dick, an avid hunter and fisherman, purchased a cabin and land down “south” in Deersville, Ohio. The “Cabin” soon became a refuge of peace and solitude for Dick, his family, and friends--a place where many wonderful memories were made.
Dick will be remembered for his sincere, nonjudgmental love and compassion for others, his generosity, his sense of humor, and his artistic ability to take an ordinary object and transform it into something special. Dick’s family takes comfort in knowing that he is spending eternity in heaven because he made a decision to trust Jesus. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores Leslie, his sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and David Woloch; in-laws, Robert and Shirley Jones and Robert and Betty Reese. Left to honor Dick and remember his love are: son, Jeffrey; daughter, Lori (Curt); grandchildren, Rachel (Jeremy) Kral and Andrew (Rebecca) Tipton; great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Yassah, Lillian, and Gospel Kral, Adilynn Tipton; brothers, Robert (Carrie) Leslie and James (Diane) Leslie, and sister, Kandi (Robert) Waters; the Pennsylvania Cousins, dearest friends Reid ( friends since third grade) and Peggy Jo Whitman, Howard and Bonnie Maxwell, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dick’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the many friends and family, and the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Center staff for their loving comfort, care, and support.
