Richard G Allman, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2014 after a courageous battle with COPD.
Born in Tallmadge, he was an Akron resident all of his life. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and retired from Sears service in 1995. Richard was a member of Community Baptist Temple and a lifetime member of Mogadore VFW Post 8487, where he was a member of the Honor Guard. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and will be dearly missed.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, he is survived by his wife of nearly 41 years, Roberta “Bobbi”; sons, Frank (Kerry) Angle, Dean Angle and Butch (Marcia) Allman; grandchildren, Brennan, Rebecca, Kyle and Kaleb; brothers-in-law, John Jr. (Dian) and Robert (Sandy) Walliser; and many other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (where Mogadore VFW Post 8487 will stand as Honor Guard), and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Mark O’Donnell officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where Mogadore VFW will conduct military rites. The family suggests memorials to Community Baptist Temple, 1398 Canton Road, Akron, OH 44312.
