Richard K. Dirrig, 82, passed away August 24, 2012.
He was born in Akron and was a life resident of the area. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he spent nearly 40 years working at the Atlantic Foundry Company in Akron, Ohio. During his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting at many local area lakes and woods, as well as some quiet time making fishing lures at home.
Preceded in death by parents, Leo and Albertine; his wife of 61 years, Hulda; sister, Marilyn Bonifay; and grandson, John Leo. He is survived by sons, Daniel (Linda), William (Autumn Kukta); daughter, Carol (Dan) Burkett; grandchildren, Diana (Derrick) Olesh, Nancy Burkett, Corey Dirrig, Kaitlin Dirrig; great grandson, Lucas Olesh; brother-in-law, Bill Bonifay; special friends, John and Cindy Seaburn, Charlie Wilkins, Mike Rosato, Don Bittner, K.L. Riley; and many helpful neighbors.
Cremation has taken place. Private services have been held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 245 Locust Street, Akron, Ohio 44302.
