Richard M. “Dick” Spiers, age 87, passed away on June 30, 2015.
Born in Altoona, Pa., he graduated from Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Dick lived most of his life in Mogadore and retired from Goodyear Aerospace after 36 years of service. He was a member of Mogadore United Methodist Church, American Legion and the Aerospace Breakfast Club. Dick enjoyed attending Blossom orchestra concerts, musicals and Weathervane Theatre.
Preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mildred (Campbell) Spiers; son, Steven; and wife of 49 years, Anita, he is survived by the love of his life for many years, Evelyn Burkins; son, Guy (Elizabeth) Spiers and their children, Austin, Anna and Abigail; daughter, Elaine (Ed) Namolik and their children, Danielle (Jeff) Rubino (children, Isabella, Julia and Christian), and Brandon (children, Nadia and Nina); brother, Roy Spiers; sister, Doris Ollinger; and dear friends, Duane Doss, Ed Bolger and numerous others.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Mogadore United Methodist Church, 3828 Mogadore Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260, with Rev. Pamela Gable officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Mogadore. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Legion or Mogadore United Methodist Church.
