Richard D. “Dick” Buehrle, 89, passed away January 18, 2013 at Altercare of Hartville, after a long illness.
Born in Akron, he lived all of his life in the area. Dick served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and retired from General Motors after 33 years of service as a pipefitter. He was a member of the Boy Scouts where he eventually became an Eagle Scout, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Dick loved bowling, history, reading books, and trains, and enjoyed spending time on his pontoon boat.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marie; brother, Albert; son-in-law, Ken Eichler; and grandson, James Polack, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rita; children, Dennis (Betty), Kathleen Eichler, Richard, and Barbara (Bob) Keck; grandchildren, Eddie (Kanako) Polack, Dennis (Michelle) Eichler, Christopher (Sugeiry) Eichler, Michael Polack, Eric Eichler, Theresa (Phil) Truitt, and Nathan Auzel; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Jean) and Kenneth Buehrle; and sister, Aileen Hilbish.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260 with Father Thomas Acker celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by Mogadore VFW Post 8487. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685, (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.). The family suggests memorials to St. Joseph Church at the address above.
